I know there is so much controversy between chiropractic and medical care, but if it were not for chiropractic I would still be in pain. A car accident left me with constant lower back pain. I tried everything from painkillers to preparing to have surgery. I heard stories from my friends who had surgery and to this day wish they never had it. So I decided to go to a chiropractor before the surgery and I am so thankful that I did. My back pains are gone and I am living my life to the fullest and pain free.

Dieting vs. Nutrition Print E-mail

Dr. Nelsen is trained in nutrition and how diet affects your health and well-being. Nutrition comprises more than simply eating three meals a day. The chiropractic profession views nutrition as the materials needed to maintain your health, and includes the vitamin, mineral, and tissue building quality of what you eat. Some foods should be avoided, while others consumed more frequently. Dr. Nelsen offers nutritional consultations and counseling that will address your specific specific nutrient requirements.  Following is a general list to consider:

You should avoid:
    •    Smoking 
    •    White rice,refined flour,sugar,and candy ("white trash")
    •    “Junk Food” and empty calories
    •    Soda drinks-both regular and diet
    •    Some patients will need to limit wheat and dairy products

You should increase your intake of:

    •    Water (drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces)
    •    Fruits and Vegetables (especially cruciferous vegetables)
    •    Lean cut red meats (organic as much as possible)
    •    Fish and Poultry (organic as much as possible)         


Generally, we recommend a Mediteranian-type diet .
